PS3 and Auction Sites
Have you looked in the sale papers for a PS3? If you do see them on sale it’s not much off the regular price. It can be annoying if you only have a set amount of money to work with and it’s not quite enough to make the purchase.
I’m right there with you! The justifcation for the purchase may have been difficult in the beginning but there was plenty of it in the end. I figured I could sell all my old PS2 games and console and start building a PS3 fund. I’ve thought about going through my closet and digging out my old jeans to see what they might fetch on eBay. I even cleaned out the garage scrounging for old tools and junk that I haven’t used in years so I could sell them on eBay. We even put our stuff in a neighborhood sale to come up with the funds to buy a PS3. I grossed just over 50 bucks. As an aside, garage sales are not the way to go! eBay is a much better way to go as you’ll net more profits.
You see, I’ve felt the same way before. With all the available accessories, games and hi-tech features you really get more bang for your buck with the PS3. A primary selling point for me is that it is Blu-Ray. Obviously, the games are awesome in HD and I just upgraded my Netflix membership to include Blu-Ray/HD movies as well. That’s a hard-sell to the wife! Honestly, once we got HD and my wife watched it a few times we really only watch HD shows or movies. I had won her over on every point exept the price.
I’ve done some research and what I’ve found is that if you want the best gaming console on the market and you want to play Blu-Ray DVDs there simply isn’t a better value than the PS3. Even when it’s not on sale! The average Blu-Ray player will cost you $200-$250 but it doesn’t play games. The new XBOX does play games in HD and movies as well but it uses the not-chosen HD DVD format. The challenge remains in getting the PS3 at a discount.
I searched on eBay and some other traditional auction sites and found that there really aren’t any PS3 Sale Prices out there. They show perceived value by including all these extras that you may or may not even care about. When I’m trying to spend as little money as possible this just doesn’t work for me.
Ultimately, I had to think outside the box. I began looking into unique bid auction sites. For my money there is simply no comparison to www.auctions4acause.com. The selection they have for affordable items is far superior to the other sites. Most other sites focus on really high-dollar items like cars, boats, houses and land. You can pretty it up all you want but I just want the PS3!
I knew I had a winner when I found that site. They had the item I wanted and it was possible for me to get it very cheap. I cruised on over to their site an account. I made 3 entries and hoped I had outsmarted the other bidders. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it the first time. I had to wait until the next one came up for bid. I bid 3 or 4 more times, said my prayers and waited. Bingo! The second time around I won. 1 week later I was unboxing my new PS3. All told I had bid less than $59.64. Not too shabby, huh?
It can take a few minutes of reading to truly grasp the concept of the lowest unique bid auction style. But once you get it, it can be addicting. Since that time that I won the PS3 I’ve bid on and won 3 other items including an iPod Nano (they have the best iPod Prices) and $400 gas card. In total I’ve spent about $350 there and won over $1,200 worth of stuff.
If you’re looking for the best prices don’t bother with the Best Buys or Walmarts. You can surely get a great deal when you go register at Auctions4aCause.
