Has anyone else had a bad vacation experience in Hawaii?

We were at the beach today on the west side of the island of Oahu in Hawaii vacationing as a family and a local guy tried picking a fight with my dad because my dad grabbed the guy’s loose surf board and put it up on the beach so it’s owner could claim it. The guy tried to hit and push my dad and the two life guards on duty right behind didn’t do anything about it until other vacationers walked up there and asked them to come down and help stop the fight. They didn’t help at all, and we had to beg them to call the police but by then the guy had got away. Now our view of Hawaii is sour and our vacation isn’t as fun.

there’s bad people everywhere, not just Hawaii. what this guy did was wrong, but he does not represent what people are typically like in Hawaii. i’m sorry about what happened to your dad during your vacation. hopefully you guys will revisit and see how beautiful the land and the people are.

I have been to Hawaii five times and have had only one bad experience. People working at restaurant on Kauai were pretty rude to my husband and I. I think we were in a place where tourists aren’t welcome. However, aside from that, everything else in Hawaii has been great. I’ve found that most local Hawaiians are nicer to tourists than locals in Florida.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Don’t be afraid to give Hawaii another chance though.

NO I HAD ACTUALLY A NICE TIME IN EACH ISLAND… AND NO ONE GAVE ME ANY TROUBLE…
