Should be fine just be aware of your surroundings, and who’s around you.

In Honolulu is pretty safe… don’t go to areas like Chinatown late at night. Also, don’t do anything stupid, like get really drunk and be in an isolated area… be aware of your surroundings and if possible, don’t act like a tourist!!! Act like you belong with confidence and nobody will bother you. Remember, any city can be dangerous if you’re not careful… you can get kidnapped and stabbed in your own backyard.

My husband and I went to Oahu and we walked along the beach almost every night and watched the waves, and just enjoyed being there. I always felt completely safe with him there.

There were some like picnic tables under a pavilion on Waikiki Beach where it looked like homeless people were hanging out…that worried me a little but they didn’t bother us at all.

What you should worry about more from experience and from other travelers I met is the locals at the North Shore. We drove up there and in the morning went to Dole, ate lunch, and then went to the beach. We were still in our shorts & t-shirts & were standing on the beach taking pics of the waves. A large wave broke and knocked me off my feet I grabbed my husband and drug him down too; so we were both soaked. We went back to our car to get our swim suits & a local was there right by our car & asked if we wanted to buy some weed from him, my husband said no. He kept trying to get us away from our car…my husband thinks to break in and steal whatever valuables we had in there. We met other travelers who had had the same kinds of encounters at the north shore so just be careful up there to not leave anything valuable in the car.
