What is the best Hawaiian island for families to visit?
afkdlsf adsf asfd ; asked:
My family is planning a vacation this summer to go to Hawaii. We have 4 children ages 13, 11, 9, and 7. We are unsure which island to visit. We have mostly looked at going to either Maui or Oahu, but we are unsure of which one would be best for our family. We are mainly interested in going to the beaches, seeing the natural beauty of the island, going snorkeling, and of course doing any other activities that would be interesting for the kids. Which island would be best for our family, and why?

Create a video blog…instantly.
I went to hawaii with my family, my brother is 15, i am 13, and we had the best snorkeling and the best time in Kawaii (spelling??), we also went to Maui, but I my brother and I both liked Kawaii better. Sorry, i know you weren’t considering it, but it was REALLY fun.

I suggest Maui unless you love the city life. Oahu is very much like any other city except for the weather. It is very busy and can be crowded. Maui has it all and is more of what you would picture Hawaii to be like. Maui has plenty to do and the kids would absolutely love it. The main thing to know is always wear sun screen. You can get a bad burn in 1 hour of sun in Hawaii. My favorite island is Kauai by far though. It is the most tropical and the least crowded

if you want natural beauty, i would stay away from Oahu, way too tourist-ee. Maui is an awesome, laid back island that your family will definitely enjoy.

I went as a child when I was about 13 (Kaui and Oahu). again as a 33 year old to Oahu. Kaui is naturally beautiful w/ bouts of rain. The island isnt that big but you can enjoy the beaches, snorklling etc. Oahu is like a city if you stay in Waikkiki the entire time. The thing I loved about it is that you do have the city life but right across the street is the beach. Now travel the entire island and its a different world. You wouldnt believe you were on the same island. You go from city, to mountains, to jungle, temp drops, it was amazing. To me you get the best of both worlds!

Oahu has a mix of both the city and country. There are things for the kids like Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park, Sea Life Park, etc. Good snorkelling spots (Hanauma Bay), and natural beauty with the mountains and if you drive up to the North Shore you’ll see how old Hawaii looked like. Lots of beaches as well.
It’s a great island.

I live on KAuai, and I think its the BEST island for vacationers! I actually book vacation activities for a living and all i do is set up families with teens on fun excursions. I would #1 suggest u MUSt get a condo! There is a lot to do on Kauai, as we offer several different activities to do! The airport code is LIH, and there are a lot of flights coming in now. You also will need a car if you’re coming here! Kauai is the REAL Hawaii island. Just like how you would think Hawaii would be. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me from this site, ok? Aloha!
